Questions

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about licensing, pricing, coverage, and how we actually run a post. If your question is not here, call us and ask.

Are you licensed by the State of California?

Yes. Experts Protection Security Inc. holds Private Patrol Operator license PPO 122783, issued by the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services and valid through June 30, 2028. Our license is posted in our Chatsworth office as required, and the number appears in the footer of every page on this site. You can verify any California security license directly through the BSIS license lookup.

What areas do you cover?

We cover Southern California from the San Fernando Valley through Los Angeles and Orange County down to San Diego. Our office is in Chatsworth and our California Private Patrol Operator license is valid statewide, so we can staff a post anywhere in California. Heaviest day-to-day coverage is across Los Angeles County. If you are outside our normal range, call us anyway and we will tell you honestly whether we can staff it properly.

How quickly can you start?

For standard posts we can usually begin within 24 to 72 hours once the agreement is signed and we have walked the site. Fire watch is treated as urgent and we dispatch same day whenever we have an available officer. Emergency and short-notice coverage is worth a phone call regardless of the timeline.

What is the difference between an armed and an unarmed guard?

An unarmed officer holds a California Guard Card. An armed officer holds that plus a separate BSIS exposed-firearm permit tied to the weapon category they carry, and must requalify on a set schedule. Armed coverage costs more and is not right for every site. For many properties a visible unarmed officer combined with patrol coverage deters more effectively at lower cost, and we will tell you when that is the case.

Are your guards insured?

Yes. We carry general liability and workers' compensation coverage, and we will provide a certificate of insurance naming your entity as an additional insured before the first shift. Ask any company you are considering for the same document before you sign.

What does security cost?

Pricing depends on hours, whether the post is armed or unarmed, how many officers are needed, and how difficult the site is to staff. We quote after we understand the actual assignment rather than giving a number over the phone that changes later. Quotes are free and there is no obligation.

Do you offer short-term or one-time coverage?

Yes. We staff single events, one-night details, weekend construction shutdowns, and short-term fire watch. There is no requirement to sign a long-term contract to get coverage for something specific.

How do I know the guard actually showed up and stayed?

Every post produces a written daily activity report. Mobile patrol stops are GPS-verified and timestamped so the record shows where the officer physically was and when. Supervisors also make unannounced checks. If we miss a patrol, you will see it on your own report, and we credit it.

What happens if there is an incident?

The officer secures the scene, contacts emergency services when warranted, and notifies your designated contact immediately rather than waiting for the end of shift. A written incident report follows, with photos where relevant, so you have documentation for your insurance carrier or for law enforcement.

Can you cover multiple locations?

Yes. Several of our clients own or manage property in more than one part of Los Angeles County. Multiple sites are often a good fit for randomized mobile patrol, which gives every location visible coverage without paying for a standing officer at each one.

Do your officers wear uniforms?

Yes. Standard posts are uniformed, because visibility is most of the deterrent. Officers wear a black police-style uniform with the company badge on the chest and the company patch on both shoulders. On construction and industrial sites they add an ANSI Class 2 high-visibility green safety vest and a hard hat. For executive protection and certain retail assignments we work low-profile instead, with officers dressed to the environment.

How do I get a quote?

Call us at (818) 918-0514. Tell us the address, what you are protecting, and the hours you need covered. For most properties we will want to walk the site before quoting, which takes about twenty minutes and costs nothing.

Still have a question?

Call (818) 918-0514 and ask directly. We would rather answer it on the phone in two minutes than have you guess.
